ATP Awards: Cecchinato il “più migliorato” del 2018?
L’ATP ha annunciato come ogni anno le candidature agli Awards 2018, i cui vincitori saranno annunciati prima delle Finals di Londra. Vediamo il dettaglio dei premi e le rispettive nominations. PREMI SCELTI DAI TIFOSI ATP World Tour Fans’ favourite presented by Moet & Chandon – Singles ATP World Tour Fans’ favourite presented by Moet & Chandon – Doubles È il premio riservato ai giocatori più amati dai tifosi, che potranno esprimere la loro preferenza sul sito ATP entro il 2 novembre. Sarà possibile votare per qualsiasi giocatore classificato tra i primi 100 del ranking ATP e una delle prime 25 coppie della Doubles Race to London (il ranking di riferimento è quello datato 10 settembre). Il premio (nato nel 2000 per il singolare e nel 2005 per il doppio) vede trionfare ininterrottamente Roger Federer dal 2003, mentre ad aggiudicarselo nella categoria del doppio sono da sempre Bob e Mike Bryan. PREMI DETERMINATI DAL RANKING ATP ATP World Tour N.1: assegnato al giocatore che conclude la stagione al numero 1 del mondo. ATP World Tour N.1 Doubles Team: assegnato alla coppia che conclude l’anno al vertice della classifica di doppio. PREMI SCELTI DAI GIOCATORI Comeback player of the year: il ritorno dell’anno. I candidati sono: Novak Djokovic, Jason Kubler, John Millman e Kei Nishikori. Most improved player of the year: il giocatore più migliorato. I candidati sono: Marco Cecchinato, Alex de Minaur, Kyle Edmund, Stefanos Tsitsipas. Star of tomorrow: il Next Gen che oltre ad essere entrato per la prima volta in top 100 ha avuto il maggior impatto sul circuito ATP. I candidati sono: Alex de Minaur, Ugo Humbert, Hubert Hurkacz, Michael Mmoh e Jaume Munar. Stefan Edberg sportsmanship award: premio assegnato al giocatore che non ha soltanto dimostrato professionalità, integrità e fair play, ma che ha anche promosso il gioco con le sue attività fuori dal campo. I candidati sono: Kevin Anderson, Juan Martin del Potro, Roger Federer e Rafa Nadal. Tournaments of the year: il miglior 1000, il miglior 500 e il miglior 250 secondo il giudizio dei giocatori. PREMI SCELTI DALL’ATP Arthur Ashe Humanitarian award: assegnato al giocatore che si è contraddistinto per le sue opere umanitarie. Ron Bookman Media Excellence Award: riservato al giornalista che ha fornito il contributo più significativo al gioco del tennis.
